Jack is our third labrador retriever puppy since we were married nearly 25 years ago. Our labrador retriever puppies have been a major part of our lives and have brought us great joy and happiness.

Our first two labs were american bred. Sam a black lab puppy and Sonny a yellow lab puppy were dogs with unique personalities but they both shared that notable lab trait of strong intelligence. Sonny knew all 35 of his toys by name! Sam could climb ladders and was a champion diver. Well a champion in our minds.They both lived full lives, but we miss them dearly.

Now Jack is the latest lab puppy to join our family. Jack is our first english bred lab. The english and american breeds were bred to a different standard so their appearance and size differ. Our first two labs were large enough for a small child to ride them bareback and sweet enough to let them do it.

Jack, as an english lab, is quite a bit more compact. He is shorter, stockier, equally gorgeous and a ball of fire. My husband and I managed for the second time to pick the dominant male lab puppy from the litter! Jack was one of 9.

Bringing in a new labrador retriever puppy has been a lot of fun, but a real challenge. We forget about the teething and unstoppable puppy energy. But it's all worth it because of the joy Jack brings when he is not chewing a hole in a pair of shocks we left lying around. Jack is currently undergoing dog training. The nice part about the dog training program in which Jack is enrolled is it provides for unlimited people training. That way, hopefully, we are less likely to mess up what he has learned at camp.
